Behavior Interventions’ Exton, Pennsylvania Treatment Center has open enrollment availability for their Early Intervention (EIBI) program. This is a play-based program that accommodates children ages 2 to 6 years old and helps them to thrive in a structured setting before they embark on their elementary school journey.
According to Lauren Erion, Program Director at the Exton Center, “EIBI provides the opportunity for direct instruction in essential skills for school readiness”. She explained that this also includes functional communication, instruction following, social interaction, play skills, toleration, and emotional regulation along with opportunities to generalize these skills to peers present in the treatment center. These are all essential skills that can help set up children for success in a classroom setting.
“EIBI can serve children regardless of skill set or behavioral needs, the initial assessment will help to determine a starting point for skill development”, added the Program Director. “There are no exclusionary criteria for participation”. This makes for an all encompassing program. For example, children do not need to be toilet trained since that is a process that can be supported within the program.
Part of the accommodations that Behavior Interventions looks to provide is the flexibility it offers when children are already receiving other services. In such cases, BCBAs will coordinate care with other services including daycare, preschool, kindergarten, SLP, OT and PCP.
Amongst the benefits of EIBI is that it allows for individualized practice opportunities at the level that is right for each child’s current skill set, this way staff are able to meet them where they are and provide better support.
As previously mentioned, one of the main benefits is providing the necessary skills needed for success in a classroom setting. This is achieved through consistent individualized instruction. EIBI also provides a safe space for children to learn self-management and build replacement behavior to reduce behavioral challenges.
Behavior Interventions’ EIBI program also incorporates a variety of curriculums such as Verbal Behavior Milestones and Barriers, and Preschool Life Skills, among others.
The Exton Center also offers Center-Based Social Instruction (CBSI) providing direct instruction for social skills and emotional regulation to school-aged children and adolescents as well as individual ABA sessions throughout the week.
